About two weeks ago I spent four days with Mathijs in Noord-Holland. Four days, during which I saw quite a bit of the region – landscapes, cities and wind mills.
We spent one afternoon in Alkmaar, a cute little town which really positively surprised me:
Alkmaar is one of the most important cheese production cities of Holland and even though we missed out on the weekly market, we couldn’t miss out on a super touristy funny picture 😉
Next day, we went to explore Amsterdam, which I already knew from a previous city trip. Hence we didn’t need to rush to do any sightseeing, but instead strolled around the center, did a bit of shopping and admired the beautiful canals and houses.

I also wanted to go to the sea – of course, since this is not something I get to see often around Munich 😉 Half an hour drive, and we were already at a long, broad sandy beach. Of course the water is not the South Pacific, but it’s still nice enough to relax a bit.

In between we of course spent a lot of time in Broek op Langedijk as well – Mathijs‘ home town – and chilled in the garden, directly next to the water.
A great weekend, which ended way too quickly… 🙂 You can find all pictures here: Holland in July 2014
